Ever since I was a boy, I have felt the feelings of others deep inside my soul. I began selling at age 11, going door to door in rural Upstate NY with my Uncle Jim, offering water purifications systems to families with “hard water” up there. While my “job” was just to do “bottle drops” to test their water, it was my earliest foray into official sales, although, let’s be honest, we all begin selling at age 0. My uncle taught me two key lessons:
1) “Alok, always sell the best product/service in whatever industry you are in and”
2) “Always sell things that are good for people.”
I have never let go of these vital lessons.
